About Karina Demirkilic, the Founder of Rapid Fire Web Studio
Hey there! I'm glad to see you here. I don't like to talk about myself much. But I will make an exception for you.
Let's start with my childhood... just kidding! There's not much to tell about my upbringing. I was just a happy-go-lucky kid with no significant traumatic events to speak of today.
My journey in web design and development started in 2019. Before that, I had a successful career as a translator and interpreter of Turkish and Ukrainian, as well as a businessperson. My educational background includes a degree in Linguistics, which I earned in Kyiv, my hometown. After completing my studies, I worked as a translator and interpreter and ran a translation agency.
At some point my nomadic Tatar heritage kicked in and I moved to Turkey, and then, after six years, to Canada. And that was in 2019 - a new chapter of my life began.
Learning web design was fun, transitioning later to web development was eye-opening. But, oh baby, discovering Webflow was like finding the missing piece of a puzzle!
You see, as a web designer, I was always limited by my inability to deliver a ready-to-use website. I'd have to turn down eager entrepreneurs and small business owners, telling them "I can draw you a website, I can make it user-friendly and money-making, but it will only be a drawing. You'll need to find someone else to bring it to life." That's when my search for the ideal no-code/low-code development solution began.
I started with WordPress, but the learning process was... well, let's just say the mice wept, pricked themselves, but continued eating the cactus. I knew there had to be a better way to bring my designs to life in this day and age. And that's when I laid eyes on Webflow for the first time... it was love at first sight.
Webflow and I have been inseparable ever since. Webflow has become my passion and my sweet challenge. The journey to becoming an expert has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I'm still learning. I see the immense potential of the platform and always tell my clients that their websites will become even more powerful over time as the platform continues to evolve rapidly.
It's a friendly competition between us - who will outgrow the other first? And let me tell you, I love a good challenge!
So there you have it, the nutshell version of my story. But don't worry, it's not all work and no play - I promise to keep things light and fun!
A few fun facts about me:
Fun fact #1: I can't ride anything with two or fewer wheels.
Fun fact #2: My guilty pleasure is trying new foods. I'll happily sample anything and everything, even if it's not the most appetizing - the thrill of the unknown is just too exciting!
Fun fact #3: I like watching documentaries about cults. And read books about cults. Some may call it morbid, but to me, it's just a quirky quirk that keeps me interested and never fails to surprise.
My guiding principles:
Principle #1: Always assume the best in people.
Principle #2: Believe that there's always room for a miracle in life.
Principle #3: Be honest, be straightforward. In your work and personal life. With yourself and others.
